POSITION: Custodial Worker
POSITION DEFINITION: The Custodial Worker position is a non-
supervisory position, that deals with the general cleanliness of the
Market building. The employee works under the supervision of the
Market Manager. Contact with the public occurs regularly in daily
activity, involves a moderate potential for conflict. Position
requires working evenings, weekends and holidays.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF TASKS REQUIRED:
Cleaning and maintaining market interior and exterior, including
restroom's and compactor areas, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.
Duties include but are not limited to sweeping & mopping floors,
emptying trash, cleaning restroom's, cleaning seating/eating
areas, use of high pressure hoses, climbing ladders, cleaning roof
drains, opening and closing buildings.
Notifies superior or office when problems of safety, equipment or
hazardous conditions arise.
Performs related work as required.
Coming to work on time is a priority.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE
POSITION: Building Repairer
POSITION DEFINITION: The Building Repairer position is a non-
supervisory position, that deals with the general maintenance and
upkeep of the Market buildings. The employee works with
supervision from the Market Manager and/or Director of
Operations.
Contact with others occurs regularly in daily activity, involves a
moderate potential for conflict. The work of this position involves
evening, weekend and holiday work and is on a 24-hour, on-call
basis.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF TASKS REQUIRED:
Making general repairs to Market buildings including but not
limited to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, etc. Must be
able to climb ladders, access roofs, lift 25lbs or more, consistent
standing and /or walking, etc.
Performs one week per month of night work to pressure clean
Market floors .
Maintains constant communication with superior, and keeps
superior informed on job status.
Notifies superior or office when problems of safety, equipment or
hazardous conditions arise.
Performs related preventative maintenance work as required.
Must be able to work flexible shifts or a regular basis.
Applicant must be physically fit and capable or performing ALL
required tasks. Applicant must also posses a high school diploma,
or it’s equivalent, and have the ability to read and understand
written and verbal instruction. Must posses strong communication
skills. Must have a valid Class C Maryland Driver’s License, a clean
driving record, and transportation. Three years of General
Maintenance experience is required with references.
